I am a relatively new Bound Brook resident. I am enjoying the "town" atmosphere as compared to many other growing NJ areas.
I am asking how I could go about discussing options for West Maple Avenue. The street is in terrible condition to begin with but the traffic makes it even worse. This is a residential street with a school, children, young adults, and elderly walkers. This street is used as a "short cut" through the area without using Union Ave. Every vehicle speeds, including larger trucks and service vehicles, down the street since there are no traffic lights and less traffic then Union. This is not only dangerous since the traffic continues all day and night but it is extremely noisy with the heavier vehicles.
Has the town ever considered speed bumps? Or other methods such as repairing the road, reducing the speed limit (and enforcing it), and prohibiting heavier vehicles. Other communities with the unique "town" atmosphere are actively doing these things to keep the community safe.
The residents all agree and would like a forum to address this situation.
