Bound Brook High School Alumni Association to Install 2nd class in Alumni Hall of Fame.

11 Alumni to be feted at dinner November 18, 2006 at the Bound Brook Elks

Bound Brook-Crusader Pride surfaces once again as the Bound Brook High School Alumni Association prepares to induct its second class in the Alumni Hall of Fame on November 18, 2006 at 6 PM. The event will be held at the Bound Brook Elks located at 305 E 2nd Street in Bound Brook NJ.  The public is invited to attend.  Earlier on that day the Alumni Association will be conducting tours of Bound Brook High School on Union Avenue from 2 PM to 4 PM. 

The Bound Brook High School Alumni Hall of Fame, located on the first floor of BBHS, recognizes outstanding graduates and faculty of Bound Brook High School who have excelled in the fields of athletics, art, business, education, literature, medicine, the military, law, science or who have contributed to the betterment of the community and/or society. This year’s class includes:

Leonard R. Blumberg, class of 1932 , is a lawyer who has served on many boards on the state and county level and is a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation.  Mr. Blumberg founded the Somerset Star, the county’s first daily newspaper.  He has served on the Board of Education of Manville and Bridgewater-Raritan and is a charter member of the Somerset County United Way and has served on many humanitarian boards. He has been recognized by many organizations as a patron of the arts in Somerset County.

Dr. George H. Daniel was Superintendent of Bound Brook Schools for 29 years from 1964 until 1993 and was respected throughout New Jersey and nationally for his leadership and administrative abilities.  He Held a number of professional leadership positions, including President, New Jersey Association of School Administrators. Locally, served as Secretary and President of the Bound Brook/Middlesex Rotary Club and received the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1990.  Received the New Jersey Association of School Administrators Distinguished Service Award in 1984.  

William Gottlieb, class of 1934 (Deceased) was a famous jazz photographer. (http://www.jazzphotos.com/).  He served as an Army Air Corps photo officer in WWII and also served for 10 years as President of University Films/McGraw Hill.  He has published books and many magazine spreads and was awarded the Down Beat Annual Life-Time Achievement Award in 1997.

Ronald Naldi, class of 1960 is an internationally acclaimed lyric tenor and has four music CDs.  He is a regular performer with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, and the Chicago Lyric Opera. He has sung all over the world and has played over 30 tenor roles such as Rodolfo, Pinkerton and Alfredo.  He is currently “Ocean Grove’s tenor” and enjoys working in New Jersey.

Mike Sandusky, class of 1953 , was a football, wrestling and track star at BBHS including one state wrestling title and was a three-sport All American at the University of Maryland.  As a youth he suffered a serious leg injury and it was thought he would never walk again but he went on to a distinguished career in the National Football League. Originally drafted by San Francisco, Mike came to Pittsburgh in a trade.  He played 9 seasons with the Steelers from 1957 to 1965 including a pro bowl appearance in 1961. In 1992 he was voted to the Football America All Time Steelers team.

Pat R. Stanislaski (nee Rork), class of 1964,  a former public school teacher was a member of the Governor’s task force on Child Abuse & Neglect and is the founder of NJ’s nation leading primary prevention program.  She has been the Director of the NJ Special Olympics Summer Games and was the Executive Director of the National/International Center for Assault Prevention.

Raymond R. Trombadore, class of 1947 (Deceased), was president of the New Jersey State Bar Association as well as the Somerset County Bar Association.  He received numerous awards in the legal profession and was active in the American Bar Association.  His spent 30 years of his legal career working to improve the ethics and discipline of attorneys, and was nationally recognized for his efforts. Trombadore’s wife Ann recalls her husband being very proud to have attended BBHS. “He had excellent teachers who prepared him well for college and law School.”

Dr. Joseph C. Vischetti class of 1950 (Deceased), was head of Dental Service at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and served on the Bound Brook Board of Education for 32 years including 25 years as President never having a budget get defeated.  He was also President of Bound Brook Pop Warner Football, Bound Brook Little League and was a founder of the St. Joseph’s Blue Angels, Bound Brook’s first Pop Warner Football team.  Vischetti’s son Joe recall’s a statement his dad always said, “I grew up in Bound Brook, got a good education and made it to become a doctor.  Not bad for an Italian kid who wasn’t supposed to make it.  BBHS gave me everything to become what I am and I will always be loyal and always be sure to give back.”

William Woldin, class of 1951 (Deceased) , was President of the Bound Brook Board of Education as well as President of the Somerset County Federation of Boards of Education.  He was the founding director of the Twin Boros scholarship Foundation, chairman of the Bound Brook Tercentennial Celebration as well as many other events and spent forty years coaching boy’s baseball in the Recreation League.

Dr. Diana Zuckerman, class of 1968 , is President of the National Research Center for Women and Families as well as a nationally recognized health policy expert.  She has taught at Yale and Vassar and worked for First Lady, Hillary Clinton to improve health services for veterans with Gulf War Syndrome. She has also written 4 books on the effects of media on children and adults. 

Victor Saginario (Deceased) was an English teacher and the Drama director from 1967 to November 1986 at BBHS.  Not only did he teach all of his students to write well, he introduced literally hundreds of students to live acting and the joys of theater through the many plays he directed. He was posthumously awarded the Governors Award in 1987 from then New Jersey Governor Tom Kean.   

The first class that was inducted on November 23, 2003 included Donald B. Conklin ’54 (pharmaceuticals), Fredrick Hall ’24 (Superior Court Judge), Robert E. Mulholland ’51(Former NBC President and Journalist), Michael J. Mykytok ’89 (National Champion – Track), William E. Ozzard ’31 (Politics and Government), Edward Scagliotta ’45 (Founder, Midland School), Kenneth R. Sinibaldi ’62 (Pioneering Veterinary Surgeon), Maryann Tarantino ’79 (Athlete), John Welaj ’34 (Athlete), Frank Zuccarelli ’41 (Artist), and Faculty Members Joe Barile (Teacher and Coach), Jean Finlayson (Principal, Innovative Educator)  and Michael Schibanoff (Teacher and Coach).
