Over 150 Bound Brook Library patrons have found their way to the Bridgewater Library since Bound Brook and South Bound Brook joined the Somerset County Library System and the branch closed for renovations, Jan. 1.

The Somerset County Library System (SCLS) welcomed all of the new patrons who made their way to other library branches, attended children’s programs and borrowed in excess of 5,300 items throughout the library system.

Meanwhile, the Borough of Bound Brook has already started making improvements to the Bound Brook Library building. Demolition work on the children’s program room has almost been completed in preparation for a renovation of that area. Other planned improvements to the library include replacing the HVAC system and establishing a vapor barrier around the foundation to prevent water damage. The waterproofing and HVAC contracts have been awarded; waterproofing work should commence as soon as the weather warms up.  

As the renovation of the library building began, Bound Brook library staff members completed a much needed materials inventory. The staff has concluded that task and has now temporarily relocated at other SCLS branches. Once the Bound Brook Library is reopened however, Bound Brook library users can expect to see the same friendly and familiar faces back at BBML.

While the Bound Brook branch is closed, Bound Brook and South Bound Brook residents are encouraged to visit any of the Somerset County Library System branches where they will be issued new library cards. Full borrowing privileges, access to the Internet, reference help, classes and programs are available to all Bound Brook and South Bound Brook residents at any SCLS library branch.
