MINUTES
NEW BUSINESS
Frank McArdle asked for continued support with GBFCC members to push forward with anyone of interest with GBFCC.
ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS /NJDEP
John O’Connor reported the following:
The Water Resources Development Act that was recently signed into law is an authorization vehicle for any projects involving the ACOE. Unfortunately, it hasn’t helped with the upper basin project.
The 2008 continuing projects have received the maximum appropriation. The bulk of this will be applied to the TalmageBridge construction.
Segment R2 & Pump Station
– plans and specs are being prepared. The real estate meeting held in November was very successful which included discussions with residents & the team. Next step is a meeting on the title & appraisal.
GAF
Bridge
- construction is complete. Only seeding needs to be done.
Talmage
Bridge
– completion date is expected in December 2009. Bulk of the schedule is being taken up by the utility companies. Once utilities are relocated, the bridge can be moved & construction will begin. Soil erosion measures have been taken.
East Street
(Somerset)
– great success – the county has taken over the project.
Question was raised as to the 2ND “T” street pump station. Negotiations are underway with the contractor to perform work & should be done in January.
NJDEP
Charles Defendorf reported the following:
The bridge over the RaritanRiver has been completed.
Talmage Ave
– a time commitment was made to complete the bridge within the baseball seasons. Realizing this project will take more than 9 months, a temporary bridge will be put in for communication & utility work to be completed until the permanent bridge can be finished.
“E” Street
– the timeline for the closing of the gate went extremely well. All was completed in one hour with minimal disruption of traffic.
Question was raised on extra allocation cost of the temporary bridge. This cost was factored into the original cost so no extra allocation is required and there are no permit issues.
COUNTIES
Mr Defendorf thanked the counties for their continued support.
ENGINEER’S REPORT
No report.
